Everything you need to know about ILO: news, reviews, in-depth analysis, opinion and more
International Labor Organization is the specified agency of the United Nations that handles the labor issue and deals with it. The international organization came in to existence in 1919 and was headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The governing body of the ILO meets once in three years with the representatives from all its member states headed by the president Juan Somavia. International Labor Conference is the biggest conference that ILO arranges every year in June in its headquarters where it analyzes and discusses chief issues concerning labor and other related matters. ILO also takes many tasks in its hand as child labor, forced labor, discrimination, night work etc that violate the labor norm and the regulations. International Programme on Elimination of Child Labor was started in 1992 by the International Labor Organization to safe guard the children from the brokers to engage in the most inhuman works, thus it initiated a project to bring nemesis for them who are violating the norm. ILO has started a training center in Turin Italy, as a vocational training Institute in order to spread awareness regarding the work and activities, its principles, policies and regulations among the individuals. Besides ILO also took measures to prevent and bring awareness regarding the most vulnerable disease in the world, AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases. It gave dominance on Child schooling and the proper utilization of labor force and punished with strict measures to those who violate against it. Thus it has been working as the chief agency for labor and assists in protecting the dignity of labor.
