London, Apr 29(ANI): This is something that defies belief, and could be hard to accept, at least for British staff.
Now, prisoners on parole will soon report to biometric machines instead of parole officers.
The controversial scheme has left personnel manning the UK prison system flabbergasted and angry.
According to The Sun, probation workers and legal experts fear that the machines won't be able to detect problems that a face-to-face meeting would.
Prison staff initially thought it was a hoax, but the biometric reporting gadgets will soon be a 'grim reality.'
Though the British Department of Justice has reiterated that public protection will always be a priority, a skeptical Detective Chief Inspector Colin Sulton warned of both individuals and the community exposing themselves to 'dire consequences'. (ANI)
