Rome, April 24 (IANS) Troubled Italian Serie A football club Genoa said they have fired their third coach Alberto Malesani. Club chairman Enrico Preziosi revealed that Luigi De Canio would take the rein after Malesani led the team to a 1-4 home loss to Siena, which saw angry fans interrupt proceedings.
"De Canio will take training today," Preziosi was quoted as saying by Xinhua.
Malesani, who took over Genoa in December, thus becomes the 18th Italian top flight coach to lose his job this season.
Inter Milan, Cesena, Novara and Palermo have changed their coaches twice each.
Genoa now is just a point above the relegation zone and take on title contenders AC Milan Wednesday.
