London, Mar 28(ANI): Legendary Formula One driver Ayrton Senna's Toleman car, which he raced during his debut season in 1984 is expected to fetch 750,000 pounds at a Silverstone auction on May 16.
Senna entered the F1 scene in a Toleman TG184-2 in the 1984 season, and announced his arrival with a stunning drive in a rain-affected Monaco Grand Prix.
In this car, Senna went on to claim third place in the British Grand Prix, and seventh in Canada, and he ended his debut season ninth in the championship.
He went on to become one of the greatest F1 racers in the world. His legendary career came to a shocking end when he died in a car crash at the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994.
The Sun quoted Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, as saying: "Senna mania is reaching fever pitch and rightly so as he's considered by many as the greatest F1 driver we've ever seen."
"This will be one of the star attractions at the sale as it's a very rare chance to own a much sought after piece of motor sport and Ayrton Senna history," he added.
The Toleman TG184-2 produces 650bhp from a 1.5-litre turbo-charged engine coupled with a Hewland 5-speed manual gearbox. (ANI)
