The Comoros Archipelago off the Cape of Good Hope in the Indian Ocean consists of the autonomous islands of Grande Comore, Moheli, Anjouan and Mayotte. The Indian Ocean islands of Comoros have their capital at Moroni located on Ngazidja, which is the largest of the Comoros Archipelago while Nzwani is the smallest. Comoros Islands also has an active volcano called Mount Karthala located on the Ngajidja or the Grande Comore Island.
Comorans generally enjoy tropical climate with average temperature of 29-30 °C in the hottest month of March and a cool 19 °C from May to November. Comoros Islands are also subject to occasional cyclones in each decade.

Comoros has a multi-party system where the President is the head of state and also the government. Each island enjoys great autonomy that includes its own Parliament, Constitution and President. Although the Comorien legal system is based on Islamic law the village elders or the civil courts decide most issues.

Comoros features great linguistic diversity with each island having its own dialect that differs from the other those on other islands. Most Camoriens speak Camorian, which closely resemble Swahili and is one of the three official Camorien languages, the other two being French and Arabic.
Comoros is a poor country with per capita income of just $600 and also has a high unemployment rate of 14.3%. A large percentage of Comoriens are engaged in the primary sector that comprises of Fishing, Hunting, Forestry and Agriculture. Comoros is the world's leading Ylang-Ylang producer and Vanilla comprises its other major export.

The adventurous tourist may also trek up to the summit of Mount Karthala, the world's largest active volcano that erupted in 2005. Also there is a fishing village called Itsandra that is worth a look in. The Grande Comore also has some attractive waterfalls to get wet in.
