V. V. Giri hails from two families with Telugu as the mother tongue and Odia as the regional language. From the very early days V. V. Giri was a revolutionary and a spirited personality who during his stay in London for study was fired from the institution for his alleged link with the Sinn Fein Movement. Thus bringing abrupt end to his study V. V. Giri was compelled to come back to India to intensify the freedom movement to free India, his nation from the clutches of the English people. Among the presidents of India Giri is the first person to be involved in direct politics. In 1936 he contested Congress government in Madras Presidency with the aim to take the people of the region above of poverty and negligence, as their situation was completely deteriorated during the British rule. After the independence of India Giri served the government of India in various posts and in politics becoming ministers in Congress government. Due to his excellence in public works and his inner qualities V. V. Giri was nominated as the vice-president of India in 1967. Before that he had served as the governor of many Indian states. As the fourth president of India V. V. Giri served little time as the president and acted well during his time. Besides Giri is a good author with a number of conceptual books flowing from his pen about the experiences he had earned in his busy life.
