Everything you need to know about JANATA PARTY: news, reviews, in-depth analysis, opinion and more
Janata party was the largest political party in India after Indian National Congress during the 1970s and 80s during the time of Indian emergency when INC was led by Indira Gandhi to form the government in 1977. During this moment of India?s crisis all the diverse political parties merged and were named as Janata Dal in order to fight the political battle with Indian National Congress. Thus Janata Dal stood as the supreme political party at that time and is the first political party to defeat INC to form its own national government in the center. But later on after the administration was over the party was divided to many parts as Bharatiya Janata party led by Atal Bihari Bajpayee, Janata Dal which got split to many parts as Janata Dal (u), Janata Dal (secular), Rastriya Janata Dal etc. Thus being started as a larger party it was finally reduced to a tiny part without having any sign of living due to facing divisions.
