Shimla, May 18 (IANS) The hills of Himachal Pradesh are feeling the heat of the summer. There has been a surge in the day temperature, the meteorological office said here Monday.
Popular tourist place Shimla was relatively warm at 28.8 degrees Celsius.
'Shimla recorded a maximum of 28.8 degrees Celsius, whereas the minimum was 19.2 degrees,' director of the meteorological office Manmohan Singh told IANS.
He said Mandi town registered a maximum of 39 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar (38.1 degrees), Bhuntar (37 degrees) and Dharamsala (34.2 degrees).
The temperature also soared in high-altitude areas.
While Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded the maximum temperature of 26.4 degrees Celsius, Lahaul and Spiti's district headquarters town Keylong saw 22.9 degrees.
The met office has forecast mainly dry weather in the low and mid-hills on Tuesday but the high hills could have rain or thundershowers at isolated places.
