Sep 22: This is 14th year in a row for Bill Gates who remains the richest person in America according to latest list of the wealthiest Americans published by Forbes magazine. Forbes has published the 25th annual ranking of 400 richest Americans that needs a minimum net worth of $1.3 billion for getting listed.
Bill Gates has been able to sustain his position while his follower Warren Buffet has also done the same. According to Forbes, the fortune of both the giants grew by six billions in the past year with Gates fortune $59 billions and Buffet $52 billions Buffet has promised to donate 85 percent of his net worth to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and family charities last year.
Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, head of Las Vegas Sands Corp has able to sustain his position at no 3 with the net worth of $28 billion while software tycoon Larry Ellison, the chief executive of Oracle Corp has remained No. 4 position with the net asset of $26 billion.
"The collective net worth of those listed on the 400 this year rose $290 billion to $1.54 trillion," Forbes said. "Despite market jitters, nearly half of the 45 new members come from hedge fund and private equity investments."
This time Sam Walton, the founder of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. could not manage to get the position among the top 10, while four members include Sam slipped to 12th and 15th place. These are Jim, Christy, Robson and Alice simultaneously.
Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page have replaced Waltson this year with having the net fortunes of $18.5 billion. They have got the 5 th position. The Koch’s brothers, who run Koch Industries, have listed on the 9 th position with having the net fortune of $17 billion each. A Koch industry is the second largest private company in the world.
Investor Kirk Kerkorian has jumped the longest reach in the list. He is on the 7 th position this year as against no 26 last year. He has earned $ 18 billion this year in the comparison of $ 9 billion last year.
According to Forbes, out of the top 400 most affluent Americans, 270 had completely self-made their fortune while 74 richest had innate their wealth. 39 are women in the affluent list. “The collective net worth of those listed on the 400 this year raised USD 290 billion to USD 1.54 trillion," Forbes said.
There were 82 American billionaires who could not be able to be part of the list.
John Arnold (33), the hedge fund manager is the youngest member and a new entrant to this list while John Simplot (98) is the oldest one in the list. John has got 317 th position with the net fortune of $ 1.5 billion while Simplot is on the 214 th position with the net value of $ 3.6 billion.
This list is published annually by Forbes Magazine, this year in April this magazine reported that Carlos Slim has become the World second richest man.
