Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading car maker, on Tuesday announced to launch its new hatchback 'Ritz' on May 15. Placed in the premium-end of the compact car market, it would be India’s first BS-IV compliant passenger car.
The car will be available in both petrol and diesel variants with a contemporary European design, the company said in a statement adding that ‘Ritz’ is the eighth new model within 48 months following the launch of Swift, Zen Estilo, SX4, Swift Diesel, Grand Vitara, Swift Dzire and A-star.
Ritz will be available with two different engine options: a brand new K-series of 1.2 litres, four-cylinder, 85PS petrol engine and a 1.3 litre, 16-valve, 75PS diesel engine, the company said.
The engineers have also given special attention in the area of seat comfort being a car meant for the family. The rear seat has been designed for comfortable seating of three passengers.
With the launch of this new model, Maruti aims to command the A2 segment as the company has been already holding a market share of 58 per cent. Overall, Ritz is a blend of European model, the sportiness of Swift and Suzuki’s expertise in making compact cars.
As per company statement, the latest one is part of commitment of Maruti Suzuki to bring global car models for its Indian customers. Here too the suspension of the vehicle with a ground clearance of 170 mm has been tuned for Indian road conditions.
Earlier, on April 14, the company has unveiled the new K12M engine for the hatchback Ritz. With superior engine technology, this 1197cc all aluminum K12M engine is the second in the Kseries after K10B with all features of fuel efficiency and low on CO2 emission.
