The last match between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings though brought cheers among the fans of the later, it’s certainly now a concern for the Royals who, as seems, is completely banking upon the only player Yusuf Pathan for their winning march.
Super Kings won the Thursday match by 38-run, as it was Pathan who this time failed to take his team to the winning block and got out for 20 runs in 13 balls. No other batsman showed that valiant effort to touch the asking rate and the whole team bundled out for just 126 runs.
Yusuf’s wicket is now the most valuable wicket for all the present IPL teams playing against the Rajasthan, as the batsman had shown ample facts to take the match away from the opposition within no time with his skill to hit boundaries and shots over the ropes at will.
He first came handy with that ‘Super Over’ match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, in which he needed four balls to get the required 16 to win. Then again, in the match against Delhi Daredevils, which was considered as the favourite, Pathan exhibited his flamboyance to hit 62 off just 30 balls to end the game on a winning note.
Earlier in the same match, he scored 42 runs to post a modest total of 150 runs for the Royals to defend. So, undoubtedly, he is the golden boy for the Rajasthan Royals, not only for his batting but also for his spin bowling.
From here on, when the team stands at the sixth place at the point table with five points from six matches played [2 wins & 3 losses], Shane Warne has to take a hard look at its top order batting despite counting on only a single man’s performance.
However, for the opposition whose matches are on line with the Royals would like to invent particular strategies to prevent Pathan from instigating any damage to their bowling. Pathan, certainly, is the most prized wicket of the IPL season 2.
