Bijnore, July 25 (ANI): Residents in Bijnore in Uttar Pradesh are complaining that the rising water levels of river Ganga have resulted in losses to crops and property.
"Day in and day out the river Ganga is spelling trouble for us. The water has left us distressed. It has totally devastated villages. Nobody has reached out to us for help as yet," said Satish Kumar, a villager.
With rain waters moving down from catchment areas in the Himalayas to the lower levels, the situation has worsened.
According to the meteorological department, heavy rains are expected in the neighbouring districts of Allahabad, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Balia, Rampur, Saharanpur and Bareilly.
Several districts of the northern state of UP have been witnessing heavy rainfall since the past one week. Local media has reported heavy rainfall and flooding in Bahraich, Banda and Faizabad of the region. (ANI)
