Indore, July 24 (ANI): Hundreds of thousands of parrots flocked to a temple in Indore to eat sorgam grains, in a unique display of togetherness.
Every day, early in the morning, about an estimated 100,000 parrots gather at a temple to have their fill with sorgam grain specially spread for them in the temple premises by the devotees.
"For the past 40-42 years, I have been coming to this temple every day. Earlier, peacocks also used to come here. We offer around four to five sacks of grains to the birds," said Ramesh Agarwal, a devotee.
Earlier, Ramesh used to feed the birds with one quintal of sorgam grain. But as the number of birds started increasing, the quantity of foodgrains offered to them was also increased.
The parrots consume presently around four quintals of foodgrains every day.
"I come here at around 5.30 in the morning. At around 6, the parrots start eating grains. Within half an hour, the parrots finish eating and return to the place from where from they come," said Satish Aggarwal, another devotee.
The entire process goes on for around two hours. Devotees throng the temple early in the morning not just to offer prayers, but also to watch the beautiful sight of hundreds of parrots flocking around and eating together. By Rajni Khaitan(ANI)
