Aug 22: World’s famous Fortune’s group business magazine has honoured Ambani brothers by listing them jointly among the World’s Top 50 most influential entrepreneurs in its latest edition. Ambani brothers have got the 31st position ahead of another Indian, (NRI) Indira Nooyi, the chief executive officer of Pepsico, a global soft drink company. She has ranked in the 32nd position.
‘Business 2.0’, the business magazine of ‘Fortune’ group has ranked Ambani brothers ‘Mukesh’ and ‘Anil’ jointly named among the world's 50 most influential business persons in the globe. “Thanks to their rivalry that has goaded them to steer their respective businesses to new heights”, published Business 2.0 as it was the bitter rivalry between them emerged after the separation of both which motivated them to reach on the top. That’s why both brothers are in the second annual list of "The 50 Who Matter Now" published by Fortune group magazine 'Business 2.0'.
Google trio CEO Eric Schmidt and co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Bin have topped the list while Apple Computer CEO Steve Jobs has got the 2nd position. News Corp CEO and media baron Rupert Murdoch ranked 6th and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger got the 8th ranked.
Business 2.0 has noted about Ambani brothers why they matter by quoting that “These billionaire brothers from India are locked in a bitter intra-family rivalry, and each seems intent on leading the group of companies he inherited from their late father in a different direction,".
"Elder brother Mukesh is building one of the world's biggest oil refineries and has embarked on a bold plan to revolutionise Indian agriculture," magazine said about Mukesh while About Anil Ambani it said, “Flashy younger brother Anil is building one of the world's biggest power plants using clean-burning natural gas. He has also created Reliance Communications, the world's fastest-growing CDMA mobile-phone network, and has announced plans to invest billions in India's enterprise broadband network".
On the other hand another Non-Resident Indian has also been able to get the position in the list. This is PepsiCo's Nooyi, who has been ranked at the 32nd position. "She may be selling sugar water, but she's one heck of a role model. When PepsiCo tapped Nooyi to become chief executive of the 35 billion dollar company, the snack and beverage giant became the biggest US company run by a woman -- and a foreign-born one at that," wrote the magazine about her.
“Nooyi, a 13-year Pepsi veteran and its former CFO, knows all about the bottom line and has positioned the company for rapid growth in the really big markets: China, the Middle East, and her native India”, added Business 2.0.
Quoting about the published list, the magazine said, “These are the people who inspire, motivate and sometimes infuriate us, but most of all, they are impossible to ignore."
The others influential business persons who have got the rank in the list are: Michael Moritz (4th), the Managing Director of Sequoia Capital, the Silicon Valley’s leading venture capital. Besides this, the other entrepreneurs include Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs (5th), Yahoo President Susan Decker (7th), Cisco Systems CEO John Chambers (9th), Toyota President Katsiaki Watanabe (10th), Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos (12th), Wikipedia Founder Jimmy Wales (13th), Hewlett-Packard CEO Mark Hurd (14th) and Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen (15th).
