Aug 20: Afghan police set free today a German captive from western Kabul, who had been kidnapped from a restaurant in Kabul on the gunpoint. The Police have arrested many persons on the basis of suspicion, Interior Ministry official confirmed.
Zemary Bashari, a spokesperson of Interior minister said, “The Afghan police raid early in the morning in the western part of the Kabul, not too far from the kidnapped area and freed the 31-year old German hostage. Many other people have been arrested from the spot.” Bashari was interacted to media, but he did not provide the detail information regarding the arrestee.
The police were eyeing since last Saturday on the spotted house, where the captive has been librated. The German lady is now safe at the Germany Embassy, confirmed a spokesperson of external ministry.
The abducted lady, who identified herself as Christina Meier worked for Christian organization Ora International, an international rescue agency in Kabul was kidnap in a restaurant of Kabul when she was taking lunch with her husband. A group of suspected people snatched her from there on the gunpoint while they didn’t touch her husband.
Earlier the kidnappers released a videotape of the kidnapped lady urging the German government to get free as soon as possible. The lady was in the curtain and closed in a house. After the request of the lady, a masked person asked to release the unidentified prisoners to the Afghani government. The video tape was released on a private news channel.
"I am fine. There are no threats against me. I want my country to do what it can for my release," said German lady. The masked man instructed her to show a copy of her German passport and an ID card issued by the aid group for which she works.
"We are not bad people. We are a special network," the masked man said at the end of the video. We will provide the list of the prisoners to be released, added the man.
It has not been confirmed yet weather the kidnappers are Talibanies or have any sort of relation to Al Qaeda.
