Sachin Tendulkar got out leg-before wicket for the third consecutive time in the ongoing India-Sri Lanka one-day cricket series. And this will yet again raise debate on the need of extensive use of technology to prevent any good match from bad umpiring.
The batsman on Tuesday declared lbw out in the third one-day against Lanka when the ball was clearly missing the leg stump; another dubious decision and another low time for the batsman who was in good knick just before the series.
Earlier in the first one-day in Dambulla, he was given out when the ball was clearly pitched outside the leg stump line, then in the very next game Sri Lankan umpire Gamini Silva went ahead to declare a ball against the batsman when it was going down the leg side. Yuvraj Singh was also ruled lbw in the same match.
As a result of those decisions, Tendulkar ended up scoring 5, 6 and 7 in the last three matches that is an unfortunate one for a batsman like him who holds the record of scoring the highest runs with highest number of centuries in both forms of the game.
It is understandable that umpires get few moments to decide whether the batsman is out or not when the ball hits his pad, but then we have television reply to land at the right decision making the game error free.
Tendulkar, the biggest cricket icon of world cricket today, has so far scored 16,433 runs in 421 one-day matches at an average of 44.05, and a total of 12,429 runs in 156 Test matches at an average of 54.27.
