July 23: Taliban threatened that till now all the South Koreans are safe but the tackling of the matter militarily will claim their lives.
Taliban militants kidnapped 23 South Korean citizens on Thursday. They put certain demands before Afghan government to set their fellow prisoners free and before Seoul to withdraw troop from Afghanistan.
They also set a dead line till Monday evening to come to conclusion and warned after they will start killing the hostages if their demands were not recognized.
Militants also claim to kill two Germans and five Afghanis they abducted someday ago. But German official believe one of the two German is still alive.
All the Koreans belong to the Saemmul church in Bundang, a city outside Seoul. Various groups are having demonstrations for the release of the captive people. Kim Sung-Gon said that kidnapped ones were not the part of Christian missionary they are just volunteers who visited the country to render medical services to the locals. They have nothing to do with the political opposition against Afghanistan.
A delegation of officials is also taking part in negotiations with the militants for a safe release of the captives who are mostly nurses and teachers. A team has been dispatched to Kabul with its plans to pull out its troops from Afghanistan.
In South Korea citizens have been barred from travelling to Afghanistan since Saturday.
Afghanistan interior ministry spokesperson, Zemarai Bashary expressed his hope to win the release of the hostages through negotiation rather than military operations.
On the other hand, afghan troops have cordoned the Qara Bagh district of Ghazni province where the Taliban have kept the workers.
Taliban spokesperson warned to kill all the hostages in case of attack of military.
Demands of the talibanis come in the wake of 3,000 Germans and 200 Koreans have been stationed in Afghanistan as a part of NATO forces and US led forces.
