Ending his long miserable run with the bat, Rahul Dravid has finally slammed century, his 26th one, after nine months gap on the start of the second day's play of the second cricket Test between India and England in Mohali on Saturday.
Both Gautam Gambhir and Dravid are eyeing to put a huge total as the game advanced from the overnight score 179 at the loss of one wicket; the match was called off after 72 overs as bad light came into play cutting short 18-over of the first day.
However, as the play began on the second day at 9 a.m., 30 minutes ahead of schedule to compensate the time lost Friday; it was Dravid who had a lot to cheer for. One time considered as “Mr. Dependable” proved his mettle once again with his comeback century. It was his first century in 20 Test innings along side continuous failure.
Meanwhile, when reports last came, Gambhir has completed the 150 mark and this is his fourth Test hundred. This is also the third one in four Tests after scoring two back-to-back centuries against Australia earlier this year: 104 vs Australia at Mohali in Oct 2008 and 206 vs Australia at Delhi in Oct 2008.
*India reached 300 runs; Gambhir batting at 167; Dravid is on 124
