It’s official now: India isn’t touring Pakistan scheduled for early next year in the wake of Mumbai terror attack. Ending a week long speculation with the possibility of a neutral venue, the Indian cricket board conveyed its message to its Pakistan counterpart on this afternoon.
The decision was officially put into words by the BCCI President Shashank Manohar through an e-mail message in which the Government of India refused to grant permission to the Indian cricket team to tour Pakistan.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) spokesman Rajeev Shukla said: ‘It was for the government to decide and the final decision has been taken. We have got the letter from the Sports Ministry and the Ministry of External Affairs not to proceed with the tour."
India was scheduled to play three Tests, five one-dayers and a Twenty20 match during their tour of Pakistan from January 4 to February 28 but the tour was under uncertainty with eroding diplomatic relation between both the countries in the aftermath of Mumbai mayhem which has been linked to Pakistan based terror outfits.
