Gwalior (MP), Dec 15 (ANI): Authorities of a zoo in Gwalior are adopting various measures to control the ever-increasing population of deer in the zoological park.
In order to contain the growing population of herbivorous animals inside the Gandhi Zoological Park, the zoo authorities have decided to conduct vasectomy on the male animals.
A special group of veterinary doctors have been called from Jabalpur to conduct vasectomy of the adult male deer and other animals in the Gandhi Zoology Park. They include male blackbucks, blue cows and deer.
A number of animals have already undergone vasectomy at the operation hall of the zoo's health care center.
During the operations, the sperm nerves of these male animals were removed. By this, although they still will be able to have intercourse but would not be able to reproduce any more.
"In our country, the population of the animals in zoos is on an increase. The population of blackbucks, blue cows has seen an increase recently and it is creating a problem for the zoo authorities. In order to solve this problem, zoo authorities have suggested controlling the rising number of these animals," said S K Mittal, Doctor, Gandhi Zoological Park, Gwalior. (ANI)
