Bathinda (Punjab), Dec 14 (IANS) An angry mob Sunday set a private bus on fire after a 10-year-old boy was crushed under it near this southwest Punjab town.
The victim, Sourabh, was returning home with a cousin on a bicycle when the bus, which was heading towards Bathinda, 250 km from Chandigarh, hit them.
Eyewitnesses told the police that initially both boys fell down but the bus driver reversed his vehicle to drive it away, and in the process, the victim was crushed under its rear tyres.
Scores of people, who gathered at the spot, threw stones at the bus and set it on fire.
Police reinforcements and fire brigade personnel were rushed by the district administration to control the situation.
The bus was completely burnt by the time the fire brigade personnel reached the spot.
The police have registered a case against the bus driver, who escaped with the conductor.
