Jaipur, Dec 6 (ANI): Re-polling will be held in Rajasthan on December 7 instead of December 6 as announced earlier by the Election Commission, official sources said here today.
The Chief Electoral Office had announced in Jaipur on Friday that re-polling would be held in about three dozen polling booths in the districts of Ajmer, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Dausa, Dholpur, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Kota and Sawaimadhopur.
The respective returning officers announced re-polling after getting complaints of rigging, EVM malfunctioning, and booth capturing during polling on Thursday.
The voters turn out in Rajasthan was good with 65 to 68 per cent polling being reported for 200 assembly seats.The Election Commission had set up over 42 thousand booths in 33 districts. A total of 2,194 candidates, including 149 women, were in the fray. Counting of votes will be held on December 8. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is contesting 193 seats, leaving the remaining seven for their Nationalist Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies, INLD- 4 and the JD-U -3. The opposition Congress has fielded candidates in all the 200 seats, followed by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in 199. (ANI)
