Lucknow, Dec 4 (IANS) A tiger attacked and injured two persons late Wednesday in a village in Sitapur district, 85 km from Lucknow, forest officials said.
The tiger also killed four cattle. Officials suspect the animal is now hiding in the sugarcane fields in the area.
'The tiger entered the Matehra village and attacked the residents. It also killed four cattle. We have roped in additional forces from the forest department and have surrounded the sugarcane fields in which it is probably hiding', divisional forest officer R.K. Sachan told IANS on phone.
Sachan said it was possible the tiger strayed here from the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, a major portion of which lies in the neighbouring Lakhimpur Khiri district.
