Jammu, Nov 30 (IANS) A government employee in Jammu and Kashmir has been detained for questioning after he allegedly received telephone calls from a suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) activist, police sources said Sunday.
The LeT, a Pakistan-based terror outfit with links to Al Qaeda, has been blamed for the Mumbai terror massacre that left 183 people dead, including 22 foreigners.
Shaukat Mamnoo, a junior assistant in the Municipal Committee of Doda, was picked up Saturday after 'he received some telephone calls', police sources said.
Shaukat first got a call from LeT activist Gulla Mamnoo asking him to watch television and 'see what has happened in Mumbai'. There was another call asking for information 'about the welfare of a relative in Mumbai', the sources said.
The police source said: 'We are carrying out thorough investigations of all these calls and their interpretation.'
