International children's festival going on now

The 9th International Children's Festival of Performing Arts is currently underway at Bal Bhavan, New Delhi. The four-day long festival, which began on Thursday (November 27), has attracted many children across the globe with an array of performances.


With the theme “Imagine the World as One”, the event will be an amalgamation of workshops, seminars and performances. There will be as many as 200 performances including ballets, one act play, street theatre, puppetry, folk dances and many other forms of Performing Arts.

Being organised by Ryan Foundation in collaboration with the National Bal Bhavan Society of India, the festival provides a single platform to children all across the world to unite and perform. It brings the young hearts together to tie the knot of camaraderie, unity and tranquility through dance, drama and workshops.

Among the prominent international performers, there is Brazilian Teatro Xirê, a dance-theatre performance group; Folk Formation – Fountain from Bulgaria, children's folk dance group; Croatia’s Tvornica lutaka (Puppet Factory Theatre); The school of the Thorshavn Theatre from Faroe Islands which comprises a group of children aged 11-15; Community College, City of Joensuu Youth Theatre of Finland; Aeen theatre group from Iran; Leipziger Tanztheater e.V, a German dance theatre; Sarwanam, a leading theatre group from the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal; and Mandwa – The City School from Pakistan.

This apart, there are theatre and dance groups from Poland, Nigeria, Romania, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, Zambia and Bangladesh. Pakistani mainstream music band Aakash is also scheduled to perform their original released album songs along with covers of English and Indian music.

On the final day, Sunday (Nov 30), a theatrical parade will be carried out with all national and international participants to spread the message of Peace and Harmony. Spreading the light, singing together, shouting the slogans for a peaceful world; these young global ambassadors will carry forward the mission of creating a world without Violence, hatred and War.
