The Green Zone is the highly equipped area with round the clock security service both by US military and Iraqi security forces but has been attacked on daily basis. So far during the month of June around 30 US soldiers have killed in the repeated attacks.

The area around Green Zone is dominated by anti-American Shiite who are engaged in insurgent activities on a daily basis. Several suicidal attacks have also killed many civilians in the last couple of months.

The Shiia and Sunni conflict in the region is intensifying day by day that increased the number of US soldier causalities and civilians as well. But US President George W Bush has defended his strategy in Iraq and dismissed the Republican demand of withdrawing troops by saying that it is the US general in Iraq who can decide the level of troops in Iraq and not our politicians.

Meanwhile British government has expressed its concern for reducing troops in the coming months but only as soon as the Iraqi army able to control larger region.
