Mobiles, knives recovered from Uttar Pradesh jails

Lucknow, Nov 23 (IANS) 'Objectionable' items like mobile phones, knifes and scissors were recovered from various Uttar Pradesh jails during surprise search operations in at least 20 district prisons Sunday, officials said.

 

The jails raided included the Naini central jail and the officials said that banned items were recovered from four district jails.

 

 

'Items like mobile phone, knifes, scissors and cigarettes were recovered from the Naini, Azamgarh, Bareilly and Deoria jails,' Additional Director General of Police Brijlal told reporters here.

 

 

According to police sources, a number of telephone diaries were also recovered from the prisons.

 

 

Telephone numbers on these diaries were being scanned to find out possible criminals links, if any, the sources said.
