Jalandhar, June 27 (ANI): Owners of amusement parks with water themes in Punjab are doing a brisk business as people in large numbers are thronging to beat the summer heat.
Punjab has total of ten water parks out of which three are located on the outskirts of Jalandhar attracting visitors from far and wide.
Water parks combine the thrill of amusement parks with entertainment and leisure and that makes them popular with the people especially during the hot summer months.
In addition to the water slides, lounge chairs, food and amusement, these parks have become an ideal picnic spot for those looking for fun as they provide separate entertainment zones for kids and ladies.
Adequate safety measures like lifeguards ensure that no accidents happen in the water pools.
These parks have become the favourite hangouts for people who need a day out, as the prices are reasonable.
"Our kids were adamant on coming here. As we could not go on a longer holiday, we decided to enjoy in the Jalandhar itself," said Geeta, a visitor.
Echoing the similar sentiments, another visitor Amarpreet Singh at the amusement park said that unlike the past there are several amusement options in the city.
"We are feeling very good. Earlier, we did not have any entertainment option, but now we have good options to enjoy. We were enjoying under the artificial rain plus there is a great music to enjoy," said Singh.
Those who manage the modern amusement parks say that safety and hygiene are their major concerns.
"We are in this business for past ten years. We have promoted it with much pomp and show so that people can come and enjoy. There are changing rooms, showers, lockers, wave pool, activity pool, slides and waterfalls. The main thing is ensuring safety and maintaining water quality," said Kulkwant Virk, MD Wonderland.
Besides residents, non-resident Indians have joined the amusement park business and are setting international standards at an affordable price.
"I have seen Water Parks abroad and seen people enjoy a lot there. I wanted to give that thrill to my people here, so I made the park. I ensure that the water quality is maintained," said Gurpreet Singh Happy, owner of an amusement park.
The concept of amusement water parks is of recent origin in India. With an upcoming and ever expanding middle class, the parks are becoming increasing popular and their elated owners are laughing all the way to the bank.By Paramjeet (ANI)
