New Delhi, Sat, 07 Jul 2007 NI Wire

July 07: Gun battle continues on the 5 th day of the struggle between Lal Masjid’s hardline clerics and Pakistan government. Militants of radical mosque are constantly creating instability inside the mosque by firing to the army troops.

Heavy military is deployed to take control of the mosque and army officials are searching the heads of the Masjid to surrender.

Reportedly two intense explosions occurred inside the Madrassa and military has conduct heavy raid on the site. Two students are killed and nearly 10 others get injured in the cross firing between military and the radical outfit.

Meanwhile the deputy leader of the Red Mosque, Abdul Rashid Ghazi had refused to surrender whose brother has been arrested by police while trying to flee in a burqua.

Police and army troops have taken control another mosque named Jamia Faridia, which is affiliated to the Red Mosque. The administration is in fear that students of the mosque may act as another radical front in support of the Lal Masjid. Authorities have shifted the students to an unknown place.

Many students including children are trapped inside the Red Mosque. Not all people in the mosque are hardcore radicals and only a few hundreds especially senior clerics having pro-Taliban sentiments are against the military government of Musharaf and advocating a theocracy state.

The clash between government and followers of those radical thoughts has so far taken 19 lives. Pakistan President Pervez Musharaf has demanded the radicals to surrender without any condition.

However, the chief of the Mosque have decided not to surrender and fight to the end.
