World No.2 Spanish player Rafael Nadal has easily beaten top seeded Swiss player Roger Federer in French Open Tennis tournament in straight sets on June 08 at a clay court in Paris. It is the fourth consecutive Rolland Garros victory for the left handed Spanish player who has levelled the record of Swedish tennis legend Bjorn Borg and joined the elite club of winning four straight French Open tennis titles.
This was the disastrous match for cool Roger Federer as he lost the match in just three sets and in one hour and forty eight minutes and forced Roger to express his disappointment after the match. This was the shortest men’s final in French Open since 1977. Nadal defeated Federer 11th time in their 17th meeting. He has won all 28 matches in Rolland Garros so far without dropping any set.
Nadal completely outclassed the Swiss player from the beginning as Roger was looking powerless before the muscleman. Nadal broke Federer’s serve in the first set while Roger’s 49th unforced error favoured Rafael’s victory in the first set.
In the second set, Roger came back in the form and reached to breaking point chance but failed in the seventh game. This missed opportunity knee downed Federer before the powerful Nadal, who then ensure no mistake and won the second set by 6-3.
The third set lasted in just 27 minutes as Nadal broke Federer’s service three times and won his third consecutive French final against Right handed Federer. The experts are expecting for a tough match as both the players are I superb form but it ended in completely one-sided.
Rafa was the favourite player in clay court as Federer has only dominated Nadal in Wimbledon Open tournament, which is going to be held next month, and both the players are expected to meet again to prove their superiority.
After the match, Federer appreciated the winner and said, “Since last fortnight his game was incredible.”
Earlier, on June 07, in the women’s final Serbian Ana Ivanovic beat Russian Dinara Safina by 6-4 6-3 while in Women’s Double Final on June 06, Spanish duo A. Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual defeated the pair of Casey Dellacqua (Australia) and Francesca Schiavone (Italy) by 2-6 7-5 6-4.
In Men’s Double, the pair of Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay and Luis Horna of Peru defeated the pair of Daniel Nestor (Canada) and Nenad Zimonjic (Serbia) by 6-2 6-3.
Despite of French Open Victory Rafael Nadal is far behind in the ATP tennis ranking. He has 5585 ATP points while Roger has 6675 ATP points.
