Lucknow, Nov 6 (IANS) A group of people pelted stones and tried to ransack a Bank of Maharashtra (BOM) branch in Uttar Pradesh, the police said Thursday. The incident comes in the wake of recent attacks on north Indians in Mumbai.
Police have increased the security at the bank branch in Bahraich district, some 200 km from here, following the incident.
'Over a dozen men attacked the bank late Wednesday evening and also scuffled with the employees. However, no one was injured and we are trying to nab the culprits,' inspector Ajay Singh of Dargah Sharif police station told IANS.
No one has been arrested so far, the police said.
