Gilchrist commands Chargers' win

Captained in the absence of VVS Laxman, Adam Gilchrist commanded Deccan Chargers to a convincing seven-wicket win against the Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday evening. With this Chargers scripted their second successive win and Super Kings to their third successive defeat.


Chasing a target of 145 runs, both the openers seems to make a sound start though Herschelle Gibbs after hitting two boundaries got out by Gony scoring only 10. But it was Gilchrist who drove the entire Deccan innings by scoring 54 from just 36 balls. The rest Scott Styris' unbeaten 36 and Shahid Afridi's rapid knock 20 of came from just 6 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes gave resounding victory.

Earlier batting first Chennai Super Kings managed to get only 144/7 including a quickfire of Albie Morkel blasted 29 runs and 15 of MS Gony. Captain MS Dhoni (23 from 31) and Suresh Raina (32 from 21) though made a platform but couldn’t convert it to a big score.
