National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna PSU of the Ministry of Mines, has gained exceptional profit for the quarter ended on Sep 30, 2008.
NALCO, India’s largest manufacturer and exporter of alumina and aluminium has achieved net profit of Rs.444.46 crore, with a sales turnover of Rs.1675.91 crore.
During the similar quarter of previous fiscal, the figures were Rs.439.73 crore and Rs.1432.12 crore, respectively.
The net profit and sales turnover for the half year ended September 2008 were higher at Rs.969.79 crore and Rs.3282.32 crore, respectively, as against the corresponding figures of Rs.886.39 crore and Rs.2719.24 crore achieved during the first six months of the previous fiscal.
Alumina sales during the 1st half of this fiscal was higher at 7,66,400 tonnes as compared to the 7,53,100 tonnes of 2007-08. Metal sales was 1,77,068 as against 178945 tonnes during the comparable period of previous fiscal, as stated in an official release issued on Friday (Oct 31).
