The Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) has been facing predicament from all corners following which it seems to be in all sorts of trouble especially after the bribery scandal involving suspended IHF secretary K Jothikumaran created commotion among hockey lovers and experts across the country.
The latest jolt to hit IHF is the threatening of World body’s, Federation of International Hockey (FIH), pull out from the Promoting Indian Hockey Project and the 2010 World Cup if the Indian Olympic Association fails to clean up the mess in IHF.
FIH chief Els Van clearly stated that the world body couldn’t work with a federation whose top official is under investigation following a TV sting operation.
The FIH is in constant touch with the IOA and Sports Ministry and now wants that both of them should come forward and tackle the situation after a bribery scandal plunged the game into crisis.
The meeting of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is scheduled later in the day to investigate the corruption claims. This will be the first time that India men's team, eight-times Olympic champions, will miss the Olympics since making its debut in 1928.
