England will host four-match Test series against India when the latter will tour England in 2011, the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed on Sunday.
Both ECB and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have reached on common ground about England’s tour to India in 2008 and India’s reciprocated tour to England in 2011.
The BCCI ideally preferred England to play two Test matches and seven one-day internationals in place of three Tests and five one-day internationals on the tour that begins in November later this year.
The ECB has also finalised the venues for One-Day Internationals with Cardiff, Durham, Lord's, The Oval and Hampshire's Rose Bowl will be going to stage the ODIs while they have yet to finalise the venue for the Twenty20 international.
According to ECB chief executive, David Collier, "I am delighted that India will play four Test matches on their tour of England and Wales in 2011.
“The ECB have been strong and consistent in their insistence that Test cricket is still the predominant form of the game,” added Collier.
"I am delighted that the schedule for this winter can now be finalised with the BCCI and our supporters can look forward to visit a range of venues in India.”
India had won the three-Test series 1-0 when they last toured England in 2007, before England fought back hard to take the One-day series 4-3 in their favour.
