Diplomatic relation between Bangladesh and India is as good as expected by the people of two countries. Very recently Indian Foreign Minister said in an interview with a vernacular daily published from Dhaka that the political relation between Bangladesh as deep as desired.
It is a fact that India is a friend and good neighbor of Bangladesh since the independence of the country. As a nation, Bangladesh is grateful to India, as the country was in full support to the war of independence in 1971.
By the time SAARC has emerged in this region, SAFTA and other regional initiatives are also appeared in South Asia with the spirit SAARC. In all regional initiatives, Bangladesh and India were good friends. Despite the friendship, relationships between two sovereign countries become warmer or cool on several issues time to time. It is mentionable that instead of some border dispute and a little debate on trade gap, Bangladesh India relationship never had gone in ice-cool level.
In present days Bangladesh India relation is growing warmer. As stated by Indian Foreign Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee - the expected level of warmness not always prevails in the friendship. Two countries are trying together to enhance the warmness of relationship.
Observers and exporters are saying that today’s world is interdependent and interrelated. In an interdependent world order, it is difficult to meet the economic challenges alone for a country. That is why the concept of regional cooperation, trade agreement and economic union has been emerged in the global politics. SAARC is one of the children of this concept, where Bangladesh and India have the same mission to achieve some common objective. And warm relation is a pre condition in achieving the common goals.
Very recently Mr. Pranab Mukherjee visited Bangladesh and assured the government that India will export half a million tons of rice to meet up the deficit of food grain. He was also in a visit when the southern part of Bangladesh was in a misery caused by a devastating Cyclone. On the other hand the Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh was welcomed in India very cordially at the time of his official visit. These high ranking visits are the reflection of the statement of Indian Foreign Minister.
On 14th April, the Bangla New Year, a train service has gone in operation between Dhaka and Kolkata. The people of Bangladesh and the West Bangle have expressed their satisfaction as they got another way of bonds. The name of the train service is MOITRY EXPRESS. Moitory is a Bangla word which contains the meaning of friendship. This train service was also a long pending issue between Bangladesh and India. By this symbol of friendship it is to be believed that the prevailing friendship between the two nations growing warmer.
Presently the train service is carrying passenger from two sides twice a week. Officials of both the countries have stated that after gathering a level of experience, the frequency of train will be enhanced. Observers said, trade between Bangladesh and India is substantially high. Huge numbers of cargo are being handled by the authorities of Land Ports. Train could be a useful way of cargo transportation between Bangladesh and India. Truly, Moitry Express would be more meaningful if it could be able to contribute in trade relation of two countries.
