The environment in Nepal has started showing change after the thumping victory of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) in the Constituent Assembly election, which pledged to shifting their fusion policy from “bullet and ballot” to the new theory of “public-private partnership.”
Discarding Marxian economic theories out of the scene and pledges to adopting the economic fusion theory an old but an alien to the Maoists would open a new chapter of growth and modernity for the impoverished Himalayan country.
The shifting of economic theory is signalling a drastic change in the mindset of Maoists after occupying political power in its hand.
In a meeting with the business community commenced at the tense atmosphere with businessmen complaining about the Maoists atrocities ended with the huge round of applause by the same businessmen community after the CPN-M leader Prachanda delivered the capitalistic speech promising public-private partnership. He said his government would unleash a transitional economic system based on their fusion theory.
The path breaking economic policy of Maoists led them multi times ahead of its contemporaries and compatriot Maoists spreading worldwide.
The most worthy statement what Prachanda declared as “we are the Maoists of the 21st century” gives strength to the fact that power not always tends to corrupt rather sometimes it inspires a person and aggravate his wisdom to do good for others for the sake of humanity and to live for the public rather than off the public.
The Maoists leader Prachanda so far seems standing erect at the expectation of Abraham Lincoln, who said, “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.”
In order to justifying his commitment of practicing fair power, he said if the monarchy and the old parties like CPN (UML) and Nepali Congress could face defeat and ousted from the government why not they. So our party would work for Nepal’s glorious future.
Prachanda is fortunate in having a friendly country-India- in his country’s vicinity. India has been maintaining long term relationship with Nepal first with the monarchy and the parallel government there and now will no doubt be continuing its earlier cooperation with the new government under Maoists, which is also a part of India’s diplomatic foreign policy to co-operate with its neighbouring countries and marinating harmonious relations with them.
The Indian government already started its work with the congratulatory dialog and suggestion to the ruler of the new democratic regime to practice politics in an experienced manner.
The new government under CPN-M has many hurdles in its way. First it has to seek solution to problem arises from the conflictory but tough stand of Nepalese army which has warned that Maoist guerrillas will not be allowed to join the army.
In contrast Prachanda has pointed out as per the last year’s peace accord guerrillas could join the army. So first he has to overcome these differences, secondly would have to try its best to provide security to the Nepalese citizens from the oppression of the hard-core Maoists, and eventually would lead Nepal to the path of development and prosperity.
