India's promising golfer Gaganjeet Bhullar was the best amongst all Indians after the end of round one of the Volvo China Open played at the at the Beijing CBD International Golf Club on Thursday. Bhullar kept Indian hopes as he shot a score of three under 69 on the opening day to be placed at tied 9th position.
Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) member Bhullar trails the leader, Frenchman Michael Lorenzo-Vera by two strokes. Indian Master winner SSP Chowrasia (tied 66th) was the next best Indian as he carded two over 74 in round one.
Bhullar had an action-packed first nine after initiating the proceedings from the 10th. He birdied the 11th, 13th, 15th, 16th and bogeyed the 17th to make the turn at three under. In contrast his front nine was very steady as he made pars all the way from the first to the ninth.
SSP Chowrasia knocked down birdies on the fourth and seventh holes despite beginning with a bogey on the first while on the back nine Chowrasia dropped bogeys on the 10th, 12th and 17th.
Among the other Indians in the field Gaurav Ghei shot 76 to be tied 98th while Rahil Gangjee fired 77 to be tied 119th.
Shiv Kapur's round of 79 placed him at tied 134th while Amandeep Johl was just a stroke behind Kapur in tied 140th place and Digvijay Singh's 83 placed him at tied 152nd.
