Chandigarh, Oct 25 (IANS) The Red Ribbon Express (RRE) will enter Punjab Oct 27 to spread awareness about AIDS.
'It is the fourth phase of RRE and it will reach Bathinda Oct 27. It will then go to Ferozepur, Jalandhar, Pathankot, Amritsar and Ludhiana,' Satish Chandra of the Punjab State AIDS Control Society said here Saturday.
'After covering these towns, RRE will enter Chandigarh Nov 16. From there it will move to Haryana and end its journey in Delhi Dec 1,' Chandra said.
The RRE took off from Delhi Dec 1 2007.
The project was conceptualized by the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and is being implemented by National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS).
'RRE (would have covered) 9,000 km, 180 districts and 43,200 villages all over the country during its one year journey,' Chandra said.
'An exhibition about AIDS is being held in the train. There are counsellors and doctors on the train who will provide free counselling to people,' Chandra said.
