Notification for first phase of Jammu and Kashmir polls issued

Srinagar, October 24 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra Friday issued the notification for holding elections in the ten assembly constituencies of the state where polling is scheduled to be held in the first phase Nov 17.

An official communication said: 'The governor has issued the notification for holding of assembly elections under first phase in 10 constituencies of the state.'

The constituencies where polling will be held Nov 17 are spread over Bandipora, Leh, Kargil and Poonch districts. The constituencies are Gurez, Bandipora, Sonawari in the Valley; Nobra, Leh, Kargil, Zanskar in the Ladakh region and Surankote, Mendhar and Poonch-Haveli in the Jammu region.

The assembly elections are being held in seven phases in the state.
