Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza will undergo a surgery on her niggling right wrist in Miami that will keep her out of tennis court for at least a month. Sania had been struggling with chronic wrist soreness for the past 18 months. The injury had also forced Sania to pull out of the Sony Ericsson Open last month.
The 21-year old Hyderabadi had earlier undergone knee surgery in March 2007. Sania is in United States for the last two days along with her mother and physiotherapist Renuko Pinto, a statement read issued by his father Imran Mirza on Thursday.
According to Globosport release, "A recent MRI showed contusion of her lunate bone with some inflammation and a suspected tear in the volar capsule. She is undergoing arthroscopy to repair the capsule and to clean out debris formed from chronic inflammation.”
Renowned hand specialist Dr. Bradia will perform the surgery.
