New Delhi, Oct 22 (IANS) Lok Sabha member Suraj Bhan, convicted in a murder case, was among MPs from Bihar who Wednesday frequently trooped into the well of the lower house to demand capital punishment for Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray for allegedly fomenting violence against non Maharashtrians in Mumbai.

'Hang Raj Thackeray' was the slogan Bhan and his fellow members from Bihar raised in the house while rushing to the well, the most sanctified area from where key staffers of the house assist the chair in conducting the proceedings.

Bhan, currently out on bail, belongs to the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) of Steel, Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, a political heavyweight from Bihar.

Other MPs who joined the protest were from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the political outfit of Railways Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, and a key ally of the Congress-led ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

A youth from Bihar was killed Sunday when MNS supporters disrupted a railway recruitment examination as part of their protest against the presence of non Maharashtrians in Mumbai.

On Wednesday, protesters in various parts of Bihar Wednesday set ablaze a train and disrupted rail traffic in protest against the MNS assaults.

The police said the protesters targeted Patna, Jehanabad, Barh, Khusrupur, Sasaram, Purnia and Bhagalpur railway stations.

Rail traffic on the Delhi-Howrah line was the worst hit. The police opened fire and cane charged a mob in Sasaram where a track was blocked that led to disruption of railway traffic on the Delhi-Howrah grand chord, according to the police.

Two AC and four general coaches of Durg-Danapur express were set ablaze at the Barh railway station. The protesting students also damaged ticket counters and vandalised platforms there.

The protests against the MNS, as also the verbal din raised by Left MPs against the reduction of Kerala's quota of foodgrains distributed under the public distribution system, forced four adjournments of the Lok Sabha, the final one for the day.

A fast track court in Begusarai had June 25 held Bhan guilty of murdering a farmer, Rami Singh, Jan 16, 1992 and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Bhan has appealed the sentence in the Patna High Court, which granted him bail July 16.
