The dreary run of the PGTI members continued at the Philippines Open as only two Indians Arjun Singh and Himmat Singh Rai were among the sixty-eight professionals who could be able to make the cut at the $ 300,000 Asian Tour’s event being played at the Wack Wack Golf & Country club in Manila on Friday.
Arjun Singh (72, 74) still remained the best-placed Indian at the event eventhough he went down three places further after the end of second round. Arjun totalled two over 146 and was the highest placed Indian to be at tied 22nd at the halfway mark.
Arjun’s second round saw him sink birdies on the sixth and 14th and drop bogeys on the seventh, eighth, 10th and 13th. The other best-placed Indian Himmat Singh Rai (73, 76) was tied 52nd at five over 149.
Himmat’s second round was highlighted by birdies on the third and fifth, bogeys on the 17th, second, seventh and eighth and a double bogey on the par four 13th.
The cut was declared at six over 150 on a relatively high scoring day. Japan’s Kodai Ichihara (66, 70) continued his good run as he sustained his first round lead with a total of eight under 136 for the first two days.
Gurbaaz Mann (eight over 152), Digvijay Singh (nine over 153), Gaganjeet Bhullar (twelve over 156) and Harmeet Kahlon (fifteen over 159) were the PGTI members who missed the cut.
