It was the clash between two estranged partners Leander Peas and Mahesh Bhupathi in which the fourth seeded Indo-Bahamas duo of Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles overcame the stiff challenge of eighth seeded pair of Leander Paes and Paul Hanley.
The former edged out latter in a keenly contested quarterfinal clash to reach the men's doubles semifinals of the $ 3,77,0000 ATP WTA Sony Ericsson Open in Miami on Wednesday.
Bhupathi combined well with his Bahamian partner Knowles to overcome the stiff challenge posted by the Indo-Australian duo of Paes and Hanley 6-2, 6-7 (8), 10-6 in a fighting quarterfinal clash.
Tournament’s fourth-seeded duo now moves inches closer to the title clash. They will now have to fight it out with sixth-seeded Czech pair of Martin Damm and Paul Vizner in the semifinals who got the better off Richard Gasquet and Jo-Wilfred Tsonga of France 6-4, 2-6, 10-4.
