Pakistan's controversial speedster Shoaib Akhtar came up with an eye-opening revelation that he has been asked to underperform and fix matches during the tour of India and South Africa in the past that he refused. The surprising disclosure came just a day after Pakistan Cricket Board handed a five-year ban on him.

Shoaib Akhtar revealed this match fixing issue during his interview to GEO TV, “I have rejected many offers to underperform. It happened in Johannesburg and India but I never accepted them as I can't betray my country," said Akhtar in his interview.

However he didn’t disclose the names of any person who approached him. He also didn’t mention any dates or specific incidents. The PCB's ban has created nation-wide protests and the issue has also turned in to more of a political mode.

Akhtar went on to say in his interview to channel that everyone knows that PCB victimised me, as this has been done to target me personally. But I will surely appeal against this decision, and will also approach higher authorities Moreover I'll appeal to the people of my nation.

"PCB knows that I have played 13 test matches in last two years and Pakistan won those matches,” said Akhtar.

"I always give my best for Pakistan. I owe everything to my country and I thank God that it has given me everything. They have punished me for being a Pakistani," added Akhtar

"If I had been so disobedient and had an attitude problem as they (PCB) claims do you think that Shahrukh Khan or Sourav Ganguly would want me to play for their team in the upcoming IPL," Shoaib stated.
