Jeev steadies his pace in Ballantine's

New Delhi, Sat, 15 Mar 2008 NI Wire

Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) member and India’s ace golfer Jeev Milkha Singh steadied his pace as he shot an awesome bogey-free 66 to climb to joint second place along with Sweden’s Johan Edfors at the end of day two of the Ballantine’s Championship getting underway in Jeju Island, South Korea on Friday.

Jeev is currently two strokes behind the leader, Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell who had a total of 12-under 132. The next best Indian in the field is PGTI member Jyoti Randhawa at tied 19th.

Forty-eight golfers could not be able to complete their second round as a result of the two and a quarter hour morning delay due to high winds at the Pinx Golf Club.

Jeev Milkha Singh (68, 66) took his overall score to ten under 134 on Friday. His second round 66 included birdies on the seventh, ninth, 10th, 13th, 15th and 17th. He thus climbed one position from overnight tied third to be at tied second.

On the other hand, Jyoti Randhawa could not produce any fireworks in his second round as he shot an even par 72 to slip from overnight tied third to tied 19th. Randhawa’s (68, 72) overall score stands at four under 140.

He made an eagle on the par five 10th, birdies on the third and ninth and bogeys on the 11th, 17th, sixth and seventh on Friday.

PGTI member Gaurav Ghei improved from overnight tied 63rd to tied 56th after firing a second consecutive 72. His total is even par 144.

PGTI member Shiv Kapur is the only Indian who is currently below the projected cut of even par 144. Kapur had shot 74 in the first round and was not able to complete his second round on Friday.

His second round score stood at one under after 16 holes. Kapur’s total score is one over at the moment and he is placed tied 67th.
