A fresh set of 25 foreign players will be up for the second round of auction for the eight franchises, Jaipur, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mohali and Mumbai since they still have money left after the first round of auction, which also forced the second round of bidding.
IPL’s governing council stated on Monday that the second international player auction would begin with a $50,000 bidding and all the franchises had to finalise their squads 30 days prior to the start of the 2008 season.
The second round of the auction will attract players from Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Bangladesh. BCCI has already centrally contracted all the players. The franchisees can only contract these players on annual basis.
The second auction will surely be a low-key affair than the first as it was more star-studded one and worth US$42 million.
Meanwhile, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also preset an amount of $30,000 IPL fee for the current India U-19 World champs’. A total of 21 players including 15 players and the six standbys will be offered on lots to the eight franchises.
It will be interesting to come across after the draw of lots will be over that Under-19 skipper Virat Kohli, (Delhi), Tanmay Srivastav (Uttar Pradesh), Siddharth Kaul (Punjab) and Iqbal Abdullah (Mumbai), lands in which IPL team as they are the most in demand.

New Zealand: Kyle Mills, Jeetan Patel, James Franklin, Chris Martin, Ross Taylor, Peter Fulton and Jamie How.
Australia: Brad Hodge, Shane Watson, James Hopes, Luke Pomersbach, Brett Geeves and Phil Jaques.
South Africa: Ashwell Prince Morne Morkel.
Sri Lanka: Prasanna Jayawardene.
Bangladesh: Mohammad Ashraful, Mashrafe Mortaza and Abdur Razzak.
