India's ace golfer Jyoti Randhawa picked up the pace to stay in the title contention after setting aside the lightning storm, which caused two hour suspension on day two of the Maybank Malaysian Open resulting in 49 golfers not being able to complete their second round, and was among the best placed Indian, to be at tied third, at the end of round two despite not being able to complete his round.
Randhawa was placed tied third as he was eleven under after 16 holes while Malaysia’s Danny Chia and Englishman Nick Dougherty are the current clubhouse leaders with a score of twelve under 132.
Randhawa followed up his round one effort of 67 with a 16-hole score of six under on day two. On Friday, the Indian star looked to seize the initiative as he made six birdies and ten pars. His birdies came on the first, fourth, 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th.
PGTI members Arjun Atwal and Gaurav Ghei are placed tied 29th as they carded the day at six under 138. While Atwal carded 68 on Friday, Ghei shot 71. In the first round Atwal and Ghei had shot 70 and 67 respectively.
Emar-MGF Indian open winner SSP Chowrasia (66, 73) is tied 41st at five under 139. The projected cut at this moment is four under. PGTI member Jeev Milkha Singh (70, 71) is currently below the projected cut at three under 141 and placed at tied 70th.
Rahil Gangjee (70, 72) is tied 90th at two under 142. Shiv Kapur (74, 69) is a further stroke behind in tied 99th position. mandeep Johl could only play 15 holes on day two. He was one over for the day. He had shot 76 in the first round. Johl is tied 141st at the moment with a total of five over.
