The four-day event of Mobile Asia 2008, India's largest consumer exhibition on mobile phones and accessories is in its last day today (March-03) staged at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
Starting from Feb 29 at this ongoing event various world mobile phone and telecom companies have so far displayed their products, services and new technologies to allure the ever increasing mobile phone subscribers in India.
Organised by the Indian Cellular Association (ICA), the event has been successful one for a large number of domestic as well as international mobile handset manufacturing companies to feature their latest products and technological developments in the Indian mobile market.
India as the second largest mobile telephone market in India with over a 100 million subscribers, it is eying to be the fastest spot in the world, with an addition of over six million new connections every month.
Cell phones as one of the most utility gadget especially among youths, more and more companies are now trying to appeal young users with latest technology, value-added services but at an affordable range. The pace of growth of Indian mobile market can also be seen as the result of Indian economic boom in recent past with over 9% growth in GDP.
Mobile Asia 2008 is also a platform to interact with those young customers and hence this years’ theme ‘GenNext’ to explore and exploit further the exceptional growth chart of Indian mobile market.
India's wireless market growth is also a compliment to the government’s effort in favouring competition and a better regulatory platform, which results a lot more technological innovation and customer oriented services.
With number of domestic and international companies on the frame, more and more rural coverage with infrastructure development is also a great cause of the recent wireless expansion.
The mobile handset manufacturers and service providers sharing this giant platform of business includes Airtel, Vodafone, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, i-mate, Asus Scratchgard, Intex, Leuci, SanDisk, Sony Ericsson, Tata Teleservices, HiMark Technologies, World Phone, and World Space Radio, just to name some few.
