Faizabad, Jan 13 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) leader, Akhilesh Yadav, has alleged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati of forgery and wasting public money.
Addressing a public rally in Faizabad on Friday, Yadav said instead of getting her own statues made, Mayawati could have used the money for constructing roads and hospitals or providing manure to farmers.
"The people of Uttar Pradesh are well aware that how money has been wasted by the government. The money which could have been used for constructing roads, hospitals and that money was used for making statues of elephants and the chief minister herself, while she is alive. The question is that they looted the money from public and insulted the public," said Yadav.
Reacting over the Congress Party's vows to implement a proposed reservation for minority communities following the conclusion of five upcoming state assembly polls, Yadav said it was an election stunt.
"We have said earlier that raising the issue of Muslim reservation is an election stunt," said Yadav.
The stakes are high in Uttar Pradesh, since the result of the elections, in the state would broadly indicate the trends for the 2014 general elections.
The state would elect 403-members to the legislative assembly.
It reported that Akhilesh Yadav would be taking out a procession across the state in preparation of the upcoming assembly polls in the state. (ANI)
